What is Ankle Arthritis and Degenerative Joint Disease?

Arthritis / Degenerative Joint Disease can affect joints in any part of your body, including your ankle. Arthritis causes inflammation and stiffness in and around the joints and surrounding soft tissue. The disease is progressive and deterioration of the cartilage occurs gradually. It can eventually lead to limitations in motion, loss of joint function and joint deformity.
